What is the difference between Raw & Virgin Hair?

Virgin Hair:

There are different variations of Virgin hair that have changed over the years. One of these being Virgin hair could be hair that started out as Raw (untouched/ unprocessed) then was processed, which could be; Chemical processing, steam processing, colouring, relaxing, texturising etc. The most popular kinds of Virgin hair are called 'Peruvian, Brazilian Malaysian etc. This doesn't indicate the origin of the hair and is a marketing term. Virgin hair may also be graded as 10A, 9A, 8A... etc. or AAA, AAAA... etc. which is also a marketing strategy. The hair grades do not determine the 'quality' of the hair and is just a sale strategy. Unfortunately the exact source of Virgin hair is unknown. Virgin hair is collected from multiple donors and sources. These are scrap hair, floor hair, ball hair. The hair is no longer cuticle aligned, which results in the hair becoming tangled and shedding excessively. Not only is Virgin hair scrap hair it is also coated in chemicals and silicones to make the hair look good, but after a while and a few washes the hair will begin to shed and tangle. When Virgin hair gets bleached or coloured the hair is a lot more likely to break off and become shorter as the hair has had a lot chemicals on it prior already weakening and damaging the hair. One other sign of Virgin hair is the smell and feel. Virgin hair smells like plastic, corn chips and chemicals which is very unpleasant. When applying water or heat there is a very distinctive smell which is also unpleasant. Virgin hair also feel greasy because the hair has been coated with silicon, to mask the low quality and chemicals.

Raw Hair:

Calibre Hair is the UK's leading Raw Hair extensions company specialising in 100% authentic Southeast Asian hair. Raw hair is sourced from one human donor per bundle. Raw hair is the best quality hair available on the market. It is wefted in its natural growth direction, keeping all the cuticles intact and aligned. Our Raw hair is 100% authentic, unprocessed without the presence of silicons or chemicals. Our Raw hair doesn't have a nasty smell. Raw hair is usually low in natural lustre and coarseness, but feels very soft. Depending on the origin and texture of the hair Raw hair has a rougher appearance compared to processed Virgin hair, due to the processing, chemicals and silicons coated on the hair. Raw hair blends seamlessly with most natural hair types as its natural hair.

How do the textures differ from each other?

-Vietnamese Hair: Vietnamese hair is often straight in nature and may vary with subtle waves and coarseness. It isn't common to find curly/ wavy Vietnamese hair but does exists its it just rare. Curly and wavy Vietnamese hair exists due to genetics. Vietnamese hair can be finer and is slightly higher in lustre than Cambodian hair. Vietnamese hair can withstand humid conditions better than Indian hair.

-Filipino Hair: Filipino hair is commonly straight in nature and may. vary with subtle waves. Vietnamese hair is a little more coarse than Filipino hair.

-Indian Hair: Indian hair requires a bit more maintenance than for example, Vietnamese or Filipino hair. Indian hair can hold curls and waves longer than Vietnamese and Filipino hair because it is light in structure and more textured.

-Cambodian Hair: Cambodian hair is well known for its coarseness and low to medium lustre. Cambodian hair is the perfect origin for styling and is capable of holding curls and waves for days. Cambodian hair is naturally straight and wavy and can be found curly as-well.

-Burmese Hair: Burmese hair is very lustrous and durable. Burmese hair is naturally straight but is offered in steamed curly/ wavy textures. This pattern is our most exotic hair type. It blends seamlessly with those who rock their natural curls. If blow dried it can almost look identical to afro/ relaxed hair. Burmese hair can revert back to the bouncy lush curls when wet and left to air dry.

We have tested all items on our website and are 100% you will see the quality in our hair.
